Our Story
Her Education Foundation (HEF) was founded by Hellen Sisya, whose inspiring journey began with an early pregnancy during her secondary school years. Despite this challenge, Hellen was given a crucial opportunity to return to school, where she excelled, graduating with a Division One leading her class.
In October 2016, Hellen joined the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), where she pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication (BAMC) and graduated with great distinction, earning a top GPA of 4.0—placing her among the best students of her class. This achievement was not easy, especially considering that Hellen is a survivor of early pregnancy. Despite the challenges she faced, she stood strong and worked tirelessly to ensure her dreams remained alive.
Her life experience became a driving force behind her deep commitment to advocating for social change. Hellen has been at the forefront of championing the right of young mothers to return to school and educating youth on reproductive health. She strongly believes that early pregnancy should not be a barrier to a girl’s success, but rather a challenge that can be addressed through education, social support, and policies that protect and empower young girls.
Through her personal journey, Hellen now uses her communication skills to raise awareness, educate communities, and influence policy change—committed to ensuring that every girl has a second chance to pursue her dreams with dignity, equality, and hope.
